The creation of this blog marks the beginning of the end, I'm entering my third year in design school at AUT. I have terminated my previous blog, in favour of a fresh professional start on Wix. This post acts as a personal summary of my time in the design world so far, and an introduction to my work for any new blog visitors.
I've learnt and created many things so far, and have managed to maintain an A grade point average - something I'm not intending to drop. I've met many other design students, and made various contacts within the industry ranging from freelancers and lighting designers to social innovators and food designers.
Recently I returned from an international exchange to Edinburgh Napier University for a semester in place of the second semester in my second year. This was invalueable with the exposure I was given at the university, the design influence of Europe, and a visit to Dutch Design Week 2015 in Eindhoven. What I took from my experience design wise was learning to work smarter, not harder as I had been at home. Also I picked up a few techniques for my portfolio, concept ideation and presentation which I will keep close to my chest!
Currently I am working on an entry to the Creative Conscience Awards 2016 (Open Brief) with a dental solution for people with parkinsons. This ties in with my career goal to work in a sporting or design for disability field.
Looking forward to crushing the year ahead.
