Knowledge Gathering is an essential part of any brief, the method allows the designer to gain varying levels of understanding from secondary sources in a short amount of time and at threir discretion. My gut feeling is that the real insights will come from practical experience and experiementation on the corridor. However I chose to look at AT's light rail plan for Dominion Road as this is the focus of the project, alongside a few overseas opinions on similar systems.
Bearing in mind this source is constantly being updated I have to treat it as a variable article and will refer back to it as a source of background information throughout the project.
Sections of particular interest at this stage of the project are:
-"How other cities have benefited from light rail"
-"Benefits", and "Dominion Road" sections for referral.

Another interesting source of backgrond information was found at http://transportblog.co.nz/category/trams/. The editor questioned (accepted it was okay!) the travel time efficiently of light rail through Dominion Road through to the airport and compared it to other systems around the world such as Houston (US), Seattle (US) and the Gold Coast (AUS).

I have linked this article not because I'm interested in travel times, rather using the source as a referral for successful systems around the world where I may find inspiration around improving public transport user experience at night in areas with light rail in place.
