Ideation Round Two

After redefining my opportunity statement and adding constrainst to my ideas, I revisited my ideas and picked out three ideas I thought were simple, intuitive, and would clearly influence the perception of safety of Dominion Road at night.

These three ideas were:

1. Taking one component out of my rejected smart street furniture system - automated streetlights that adjust and brighten individually as users walk underneath them via wireless connectivity or motion sensors. See Youtube link below

2. Re-adopting my "Ambient Light" idea to brighten up dim bus stops and install some life into dark spaces for users to "see the sound" of daytime activity through flashes of light. See Youtube link below.

3. Using "Flourescent Paint" inside bus shelters and around bus stops that can "charge" up through normal sunlight (even on a cloudy day) and provide glowing lighting all night long.

(Refer to research image of what application could look like at bus stops)

I sketched these ideas out and rendered them by hand, before taking them into photoshop with my wacom and creating videos for Concept One and Two (find links below). A visual of concept three can be found among the gallery below.

My next post will provide links and findings regarding the lighting technology that each of these concepts will operate on.
