Further Prototyping

After sketching out some new forms to combat my identified issues, I went back to prototyping to make some models I could present and also integrate some real electronic components to show my thinking and make my ideas as real as possible.

I began with some small basic 1:7 scale models exploring physical forms inspired by my sketches.

I then created two large scale models fitted with real components including motion sensors, screws, and light bulbs. I made one model to look like it was inspired by a security camera form, and the other as a dynamic and radical form - taking the two extremes of the spectrum. I also experimented with different lighting configurations.

I decided the dynamic form was preferable for its functionality, especially with the addition of solar panels and "wings" that cover and direct the light created

I also created a square brace fitting for the concrete poles along the side streets of Dominion Road to ensure my fitting can be used anywhere. I added a small switch on both the square and circular braces which the installer could use to control the current for safe replacement or installment into the power supply.

I decided the original physical form of the microphone for the sound bars concept was fine as it is, I would just need to make sure the production and materials used would ensure it would not suffer from vandalism.
