Today we presented our proposals to Eden-Albert Local Board reps Graeme Easte and Tim Woolfield in our second presentation for this project.
Overall this proposal was far more successful than the last, my boards were a lot more visual and attractive and I had the help of my models to help me out.
The feedback was also positive, from what I gathered the practicality, viability and general purpose of my retrofitted footpath light solution was appreciated. I think they liked my design too, calling it distinctive - which could be a good thing?
However a few questions were raised :
-What was the purpose of the "wings" in the physical design of the fitting? (I originally thought they would be used as solar panels to capture both sides of the sun)
-Which streets would the fittings be placed?
-How much would each fitting/component cost
A few issues and suggestions were also raised:
-Controlling the light direction to not shine into peoples houses (can use the "wings" to direct the light)
-The issue of the street pole spacing on the side streets being too far apart for the lights to be effective
-The "annoyance factor" of the lights flicking on and off along the street for residents
-People may not like being "put in the spotlight", consider just having the lights on a constant intensity
-It would be good to have a visualization of the fitting shining on the street
This session was definitely more helpful this time, now I've got a few logistical issues to solve while I work towards the completion of the project.
